NSO clusters with HA

Team,

Does anyone have past experience with NSO 4.x clusters configured with HA?

Would appreciate if you can share any design docs/config samples.

Thank you!

Re: NSO clusters with HA

[Extending to service_orchestration]

Team,

The Admin Guide mentions a virtual floating IP or a redundant fqdn DNS name is required for each pair of servers in a cluster that is configured with HA.

Does anyone have experience with this type of configuration? If so, I would appreciate any reference to design documents or sample configs.

Thank you!

From the Admin Guide:

“There is no replication of configuration data or operational data whatsoever between nodes in a cluster. It is however possible to combine the NSO cluster feature with the NSO High Availability functionality (see Chapter 7, High Availability). A remote node can for example be a fully replicated HA pair. In this case it is important to configure the address of the remote node as the reachable address of the HA group (for example using a virtual/floating IP address or DNS redundancy).

Re: NSO clusters with HA

Hi Michel,

Will unicast you HA deployment guide, got it from Dan Sullivan (in CC). Haven’t worked on VRRP version but have some experience with BGP one. It is not ideal but better than nothing. We filled couple of defects to change/enhance behaviour but they are still not resolved.

Re: NSO clusters with HA

Michel,

Most (all?) deployments of HA on NCS Clusters are done with 2 entirely separate clusters.

A failure on any of the nodes (Service or Device) in the Master Cluster will initiate a fail-over of ALL nodes

in the cluster to the Slave cluster.

There is only a single connection from each cluster’s Service node to each of the Device nodes

in that cluster, so no VIP is necessary between Service and Device nodes.
