NSO Training

We just got one question about adding a real router to NSO. This is a ISO device which can be logged in with telnet. The username/password is cisco/cisco.  We configured this device through the UI and try to connect to it from NSO, however it got back with an error like below, it seems an authority problem, do you guys have any idea about what we missed? And what’s the usually way to add a device (other than netsim) to NSO by command?

Re: NSO Training

I think this is a reasonable feature request. I will issue an internal ticket to the NED team.

The prompt should be configurable via the NED settings.

Are you trying to connect via console? If so, which NED version you are running?

Re: NSO Training

I’ve seen a similar error when a RADIUS server is used for telnet authentication and the router username prompt has been customized.

Re: NSO Training

The NED expects one of "[Ll]ogin:", "[Nn]ame:", "[Pp]assword:"

and if none is returned the error will be reported.

Cisco IOS can change the prompt for example by below CLI:

aaa authentication username-prompt

When I change the prompt then I got same error.

info Failed to connect to device test: connection refused: No login prompt cisco@ncs# *** ALARM connection-failure: Failed to connect to device test: connection refused: No login prompt
