RESTConf NED creation

Hi team

Do we have any examples of having auto-generated a NED from yang file from a RESTConf based system?  And would we plan to add this capability into the ncs-make-package tooling?

This is coming from an account-level discussion with MRV who are looking to add stronger API support to their EMS – and looking at RESTConf/YANG.  Hopefully an auto-generated NED will reduce integration hassles for NSO.

I also plan to point them to CONFD with an assumption we’ll add RESTConf to that too, and then they get a richer set of APIs.

Thanks

Dan

Hi,

What about OpenDaylight NED (ODL)?

It is in stash.

Once RESTconf is a proper standard, and is also implemented in NSO, I'm guessing the procedure will be very similar to the one for NETCONF.

  1. I.e NSO will have builtin support to talk to RESTconf based devices.

The NED creation will be similar to how it works with NETCONF.

Just to inform everyone - MRV will have their RESTConf release on their EMS in October. No plan to implement Netconf.

Another FYI - we do have an MRV NED, but for going directly the devices, using CLI. I realise the requirement here is to go via the EMS, but for previous project(s) we have gone direct.

Cheers,

KJ.
