Are customers allowed to write their own NEDs? If they are, and there is an issue, will TAC give support? If so, what kind of support?

Yes, support will be limited to help on the documented NSO APIs and general structure of the NED. We will not be able to trouble shoot the NED itself or provide any stamp of approval on its correctness. Suspected defects that are reported by the customer might need to be reproduced using standard supported NEDs. The BU support that we get on supported NEDs are of course also not available to us for customer NEDs either.
We cannot prevent partners or customers to develop their own NEDs and use them. But when it turns out that such a NED is at the root cause of an unstable NSO environment support will be impacted.
