10G license installation on ME 3600X

Hello colleagues,

Could you please help me with one small question. I'm installing 10G license on ME-3600X-24FS-M. This is what I've got before installation:

Switch# sh license

...

Index 3 Feature: 10GEUpgrade
        Period left: 8  weeks 4  days
        License Type: Evaluation
        License State: Active, Not in Use, EULA not accepted
        License Count: Non-Counted
        License Priority: None

Switch#

After the license was installed:

Switch#sh license
....

        Period left: Life time
        License Type: Permanent
        License State: Active, Not in Use
        License Count: Non-Counted
        License Priority: Medium

Switch#

My question is - why license state is Not in Use. There is no sfp+ installed in the switch. Could this be the reason?

Hi Oleg,

   you would need to change the SDM template for this... (sdm prefer 4 or 3 )...by default the I/O mode is 1 and thus, you will be seeing the 10GEupgrade feature as "Not in Use".

you can check your devices current I/O mode by giving "show sdm prefer" cmd.

Changing of SDM template covers ME 3600-24CX configuration and this configuration is not valid for ME 3600-24FS-M, that I use.

There is no such options in ME-3600-24FS-M:

Switch#sh sdm prefer ?
  current  show current template configuration
  default  show default template configuration
  ip       show ip template configuration

The problem is this:

The output is quite misleading on the 3600’s              .

It’s says evaluation and not in use.

hi!

i have same a problem. but if  use I/O Mode 2 or Mode 3 i cant enable mpls functions on tengig ports. can you tell me, what i need to do for usage 4 tengig ports and usage in this port mpls functions

Plugging in the SFP module will trigger the license and you will be able to use it afterwards.

Could you please help me to upgraded/install the switch license for 10GE. 

I am facing issue with Switch "ME-3600X-24TS-M" as 10GE license has expired.

Most likely you need to buy a new 10G licence and activate it on the switch.
