Hi,
I work for an ISP in Africa and we are in the initial stages of planning a metro-ethernet network. As I trust that the people who frequent this discussion area will have much more experience and lessons learnt I wished to get your views and suggestions. Herewith a rough outline of the type of topology planned:
1. Dark fibre to the building (primarily CBD)
2. Last mile either ethernet or fibre depending distance
3. Average purchased link size <5Mb/s
4. Projected number of clients per building <15
With the above in mind please advise the following:
1. Suggested POP equipment (anything you list will be helpful)
2. Aggregation equipment
3. Suggested topologies - VLAN's, Routing, MPLS, etc
4. And any other pitfalls or checks you can suggest
Thank You
Winston
