Back to back VRF and LP

We have MPLS backbone and we are connecting to another MPLS SP using Back to Back VRF in two sites, running BGP. We are advertising the same subnets to the SP from the two sites. Now we want to control the return traffic from the SP back to our MPLS Backbone, so some of the subnets will to return from site A, and some will return from site B.

In BGP only (No MPLS), we could use community, and based on the community the SP will set the Local Preferences. However I think that will not work in MPLS backbone..

So how we can achieve the same thing in MPLS?

Thanks in advance

Hello Ian,

you can use standard communities with MP BGP VPNv4 address family if you use the command

neighbor x.x.x.x send-community both

in this way in cooperation with the service provider you can use communities to implement routing policies.

So yes you can still use standard BGP communities also in a VRF context.

Hope to help
