We are using AS9006 (A9K-RSP440-SE) as VPLS PE router, and customer sites access to ASR9006, but there are dozens of sites, now customer has a query: how many VPLS CPE sites supported on ASR9006 for same customer, could you have any idea on this, thanks.
Actually this is a complex question with no simple answer - as are all the scaling related ones. In IOS XR you can use the command "show l2vpn capabilities" to get the uni-dimensional scaling numbers for your specific HW setup (i.e. how many bridge-domains, MACs, etc...) Then considering your VPLS service parameters, e.g. how many MACs per BD you allow, you can infer how many instances of such service you can spin up on a given PE.
But note however that these uni-dimensional scaling numbers are just theoretical maximum -that is if nothing else is configured on the box while in your real world setup you're running other protocols with their own demands on memory and CPU on both RP as well as on LC. So take these as indicative only.
Hence best answers to scaling questions are derived from the multi-dimensional scaling testing
In EVPN A/A + IRB both PE in same EVI have BVI playing a default GW role. Its not supported to have BVI to be shutdown on one of PEs, In this case if if traffic hit this PE with DMAc equal to BVI Custom MAC, then it will drop this traffic du...
