Hi all,

In MPLS which of the following must enable to populate the LSP ?

From documentation both are doing the same function.

Which is correct seeting for MPLS network.

1) LDP only

2) RSVP only

3) LDP + RSVP

If TE is configured and full mesh between routers, can disable LDP right?

Regards

Hi

this is not exactly the same function. RSVP is used for TE in this situation.

LSPs can be built by RSVP(in case of TE only) or LDP.(you can run LDP over a TE tunnel though). You cannot use LDP to establish TE tunnels.

1)You can have a LDP only network : no TE tunnels in this case as TE tunnels are using RSVP to exchange labels.

2)You can have a RSVP only network : in this case you have to have full mesh TE tunnels, end to end.In this case you can disable LDP

3)You can have both : some TE tunnels implemented on top of a LDP network. You should care to run LDP over your TE tunnels in cases those tunnels are not end to end

cheers

Thanks Olivier.

Can someone tell me whether LDP Over RSVP supported on cisco devices, if so can you please give me the configuration. (Tunnel shourcuts)

Please check www.mplsvpn.info under te labels or visit cisco.com config guides

I would like to add one more point

You can enable full mest te tunnels in the core and use ldp in the access and distribution network.

The advantage of using it, it actually helps to save the cpu resources rather mixing ldp and te both.
