MPLS VPLS

Hi,

If i  have MPLS domain connect many CE routers through MPLS LDP VPLS service.

The CE routers use ospf protocol between each others.

In one of CE locations CE is connected to 2 PE routers, which have connection between them: CE1-->PE1-->PE2-->CE1 to load balance the traffic.

Is there any possibility to have problems or loops by use this connectivity???

Look forward to hearing from you.

hello @mhdpro30083632 ,

here you have for ASR1k,

MLACP documentation :

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/ios-xml/ios/cether/configuration/xe-16/ce-xe-16-book/ce-iccp-multichass-vlan-red.html

PW redundancy doc link:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/ios-xml/ios/mp_l2_vpns/configuration/xe-16/mp-l2-vpns-xe-16-book/l2vpn-pseudowire-redundancy.html

About EVPN, it's not yet supported at the moment for IOS XE.

You should use ASR9k with at least cXR 6.2.x release.

kind regards

Hello,

yes you can have issues if you try to load balance with VPLS in a multi-homed environment.

But you have alternative setup to avoid loops. You can configure redundant pseudo wires towards PEs to enforce active/standby connectivity.
Otherwise, you could implement MCLAG among PEs to enforce redundancy on PE side.
With such methods you can't really load balance dynamically...but manually only, by distributing Vlans equally on both PEs.
Eventually, if you prefer to load balance dynamically you could implement EVPN Dual active flavor which natively supports load balancing in multi-homed L2 network.

Regards.

Thank you.

Could you please share documents of the related solutions..

Of course,

let me know which platform/release do you use (IOS, IOS XR, IOS XE) so i can provide the right documentation links.

Regards,

Sure

It's ASR 1001 / IOS XE 16.9.1

Thank you
