Multicast VPN - Stops working and starts again

Hi,

 

We are running a Draft Rosenberg Multicast VPN setup for one of our customers.

We made the following observations for certain multicast streams :

  1. The multicast stream is working.

  2. Suddenly, customer complains that the application is not working. Upon checking we observe that multicast traffic throughput rate is down to 0Kbps.

  3. This stays link this for sometime (may be 3-4 min)

  4. After sometime, the multicast streaming starts again.

  5. This cycle keeps repeating.

Customer is running PIM-SPARSE mode and the Service provider core is also PIM-SPARSE mode

 

We could not spend time to understand if there was a pattern associated to this (no time)

The platform used on the DC (source) connecting end is Cisco ASR 9006 with 6.1.4 and Received end PE router is ASR 1001X or ASR 9001 (varies from location to location)

 

Can someone throw some light here ? The control plane is fine (PIM GRE tunnels on core are stable for many days)

 

Any PE end hardware suspicion ?

Hi,

Can you please post topology indicating HW + SW version as follows?:

1. SOURCE - INGRESS PE -- MPLS CORE -- EGRESS PE - RECEIVER.
2. Configurations.
3. Problematic multicast group.

Also:

1. When does this happen in particular, any specific time of the business day or it is sporadic?
