10G capability on SNS-3615

Hello,

Is anyone able to confirm the 10G capability of the SNS-3615 appliance?

I've read through the documentation available on the Cisco site which states..

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/ise/sns3600hig/b_sns_3600_install/b_sns_3600_install_chapter_00.html

"Dual 1-Gb or 10-Gb Ethernet ports:

  • LAN1 (linked to Cisco ISE GigabitEthernet 0 interface)

  • LAN2 (linked to Cisco ISE GigabitEthernet 1 interface)

Note

The interface labelling is from left to right.

The dual LAN ports can support 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps depending on the link partner capability."

The built in option that the unit is sold with is a quad port 1Gb adapter (SNS-PCIE-IRJ45) which isn't 10G capable.

What are the options here? Is the module swappable for 10G?

The base C220M5 server that the SNS series appliances are based on have "Dual embedded Intel x550 10GBASE-T LAN-On-Motherboard (LOM) ports", and the quad port gigabit expansion card. There are a total of 6 ethernet ports that can be used by the application, the two lower ports are capable of negotiating 10g with rj45.

From the SNS guide you linked.

Thanks, that's clearer now.

I was being mislead by the "6GbE network interfaces" listed under the hardware spec.

Cisco SNS-3615-K9

  • Cisco UCS C220 M5

  • Intel Xeon Silver 2.1 GHz 4110, 8 CPU Cores, 16 Threads

  • RAID-0

It's a shame that the two 10G capable slots weren't made as SFP. I'm struggling to find a 10G copper SFP for a Nexus FEX 2300.

A lot of sites listing "SFP-10G-T" and "SFP-10G-T-S", but these look to be 'compatible' SFPs and don't feature on the official compatibility matrix for the product.
