ACS 5.7 System Alarm: Incremental Backup failed

Hello All,

We have ACS 5.7.0.15.1 and I am getting this "Incremental Backup failed" alarm . I have set the incremental backup button to ON also configured the time and other parameter needed. But the button automatically goes to OFF. Please check the attached image for the Alarm.

Please help.

Thank you.

I have this problem also. We are at ACS 5.6 going to version 5.7. Here is our error message:  incremental backups failed: CARS_BR_BACKUP_CREATE : -405 : internal error: couldn't create backup file. Request assistance. Thank you!

Hi Pratik,

Please share the output of show disks on the ACS.

And check if the opt is higher than 30 % or not ?

Aditya

The opt is just 8% used. I have attached the output.

Thank you.

Hello Pratik,

Check when ACS took the last successful incremental backup using the command " show backup history". Check if the repository is reachable or not. If repository is not reachable then also this issue occurs.

Regards,

Poonam Garg

The backup was successful last night. I checked using show backup display command. Also I didn't get the error today. "show backup history" command  shows results for full backup or incremental backup?

Also how will I check if the repository is reachable or not?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Pratik,

Just a simple ping ip <> will do it.

But if it has worked then it may not be a connectivity issue.

Could you tell me if it is a new setup or a working one ?

Regards,

Aditya

Yes I could ping it.

No its not a new setup, its an old working one.

Thank you.

Hi,

As a best practice make sure if Data purging and Incremental backup is configured on the ACS.

Please check the following section:

Configuring Data Purging and Incremental Backup

Hi Nhkelley1,

Please check the space in the opt directory ?

Please check permissions to create the directory in the opt directory?

whether are we using any NFS server ?

Thanks

Thank you

The CLI "Show Disk" command has the Opt directory only is at 3% usage (plenty of space).

We are using NETAPP vfiler for our NFS volume backups in software repository.

Anything else I need to check for specifically?

Hi Nhkelley,

I am suspecting permission issue in the NFS for that directory .

Please change the permissions to root and execution permissions ,then reconfigure the NFS in ACS .

Try to take backup once again .

Thanks
