Applying patches to ACS 5.1

Hi All,

I hope some one can help out with this problem.

I have an ACS 5.1 with the following S/W load

Cisco Application Deployment Engine OS Release: 1.2
ADE-OS Build Version: 1.2.0.146
ADE-OS System Architecture: i386

Cisco ACS VERSION INFORMATION
-----------------------------
Version : 5.1.0.44
Internal Build ID : B.2347

I  have downloaded 5-1-0-44-3.tar.gpg, 5-1-0-44-4.tar.gpg and 5-1-0-44-5.tar.gpg to a local repository on the ACS but when ever I try and run the patch upgrade process  acs patch install 5-1-0-44-5.tar.gpg repository repository_name  I get the following error output....

chmod: cannot access `*.sh': No such file or directory
Invalid patch '5-1-0-44-5.tar.gpg' - missing install.sh
% Error: Failure to open / validate the patch

I have moved the 5-1-0-44-5.tar.gpg to a linux box and have tried to dencrypt the file using gpg -d 5-1-0-44-5.tar.gpg   but it then prompts for apass phrase, I tried a few guesses but I could not decrypt it.

So what part of the upgrade process am I missing, or do I need to install some sort of pass phrase so that the ACS can properly decrypt the patch files.

I have tried this with patch 3, 4 and 5.  Do I need to start off at pathch 1?

Thanks

Cefyn Arch

Helloz,

Form where did you download the patch. I would suggest you to download from cisco.comif you didn't download before.

No, You can directly apply the patch 5.
The command you are running to apply the patch is correct.
I would like you to check the few things

1. Are you using TFTP? IF yes, then switch to FTP and then try.
2. Before you apply the patch, make sure you can see the file under the repository.

Show repository

if you can see patch 5 under the repository then you are good to go.

Hi Jatin,

Thanks for the advice to change to FTP. Once I had moved the file using FTP there was no corruption and the update would apply.

Is TFTP on the ACS operating system broken ?

Cefyn

Yes, there is an issues with TFTP and we also filed a defect on that.

I also had the same issue attempting to install the latest patch for version 5.2.

Using TFTP caused the ACS to say it cannot find install.sh but when using FTP, the upgrade worked fine.

Thanks
