ISE 2.2 on VMware 5.0

Hi team;

Question from a partner :

release notes state that ISE 2.2 is supported on VMware 5.x

However, it seems that ISE 2.2 is running on Redhat 7, and VMware 5.0 doesn't support Redhat 7 (would require virtual hw 9, only supported on VMware 5.1)

Redhat : https://access.redhat.com/solutions/1583453

Resolution

  • As the documentation VMware ESXi 5.0 is not certified to run Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7

Could you confirm whether ISE 2.2 is officially supported on VMware 5.0 or on 5.1 only ?

Thanks,

Jean-Francois

You are correct that RHEL 7 not supported on VMware ESXi 5.0. The minimal is ESXi 5.1 U2 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x, per VMware Compatibility Guide.

Hi,

May we have the release notes corrected ?

We should avoid expected issues if customers/partners try to upgrade ISE 2.2 on  VMware 5.0 ....

Thanks,
