Self-Reg Guest Portal - allow guest to select account duration

Hello,

I have requirement to allow guest users possibility to select prefered account duration. 

This option should be visible on guest self-registration form, then forwarded to sponsor for acceptance.

I found that there are variables:

ui_end_date_time ui_start_date_time ui_time_left

I haven't tried add javascript to set these variables according to guest choice. 

I'm going to learn javascript and do this, but first of all - will this work as expected?

I see that I can use $ui_end_date_time$ $ui_start_date_time$ $ui_time_left$ in email to sponsor, these variables could be overwritten by script placed in Portal Page Customization > Registration Form > "Optional Content 2" window?

This requirement is important because the guest registration process should work without using sponsor portal, sponsor should approve guest account by selecting link in email.
