Bringing Education into the Digital Age Company: Manteca Unified School District Industry: Education Location: Manteca, California Company size: 23,500 |
Challenge
After years of cuts, MUSD received one-time funds to reinvest in its schools. To keep students from falling behind, it needed to create a comprehensive, standard network structure that could be deployed quickly. It also aimed to enhance the technology skills of its students and teachers, and help ensure its schools met Common Core standards for a digital curriculum.
The Solution
Working with top partners, MUSD standardized on a Cisco software-defined network across 32 schools. Solutions included Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Switches and Cisco wireless access points with support for 802.11ac wireless standards.
Outcomes
MUSD was able to deploy a wireless network that could connect an average of 21,000 devices simultaneously. This made it much easier for teachers to engage students with learning experiences beyond the classroom. Cisco network management solutions have also provided IT teams with visibility into the network to solve problems quickly, and keep classrooms running.
