3750 Switch Checklist

Hello,

In this week i have to do my first job, I have to monitor the healt and the configuration of best pratices on a switched network.

I d love to have a check list, for all the thing that i have to verify. 

i have a security check list and follow a sample 

                 "   Con­trol phys­i­cal access to the switch to only autho­rized per­son­nel.
                                 •    Cre­ate an “enable secret” pass­word.
                                 •    Set time­outs for ses­sions and con­fig­ure priv­i­lege lev­els.
                                              MySwitch#conf t

                                              MySwitch(config-line)#exec-timeout 15 0

I need a check list, that cover all topic that i have to verify and mabe tune (best pratice) on 3750 switch.

I posted a sample of my security check list for access layer switch.

My job should be to verify correct working of switch, correct configuration, health.

For example

- Control the number of errors on interfaces

-Control speed and duplex for all interfaces 

-Shut down unused port .

Hello,

Here are the things you can check for a health sanity -

1. Check for interfaces status ( drops, CRC, errors, Collision, reliability )

2. Check for cpu utilization history

3. Check for low memory utiizaiton

4. Check for spanning tree TCN ( Topology Change Notification )

5. Check for any ASIC drops . Command: Sh platform port-asic stats  drop

6. Check for diagnostic status .

Command:

show diagnostic status       
show diagnostic result switch 1 detail
