4 Devices with Same IP Address - 172.17.1.1 - Not sure to make this work

Hi Guys,

Is there any devices for Cisco Products or other vendor that can do 4 unit devices w/ Same IP Address of 172.17.1.1?

Or is there any devices that can do a Port Forwarding for these 4 unit devices w/ same IP if 172.17.1.1?

I am not sure how to make this work as per requirement of our customer.

Thanks in advance.

Erwin

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Hi Bandi,

Thanks for the response.

Is that doable if we use a Cisco Switch 6500 That can do NAT or Port Forwarding and connect those 4 Devices w/ the same IP Address(172.17.1.1) to it?

NAT is supported on 6509s anyway , another option may be to use basic VRFs , you can have same ip address in multiple vrfs as there isolated to each other but can speak with each other

yes possible technically.

I think is possible with VRF's since these virtual equipments become independant, and you could also consider using hsrp or glbp so both interfaces can forward packets as they would be different equipments.

Hi Giovanni,

thanks for the response. Is there any specific device that do VRF's? A Firewall or Layer 3 Switch?

Also, for each VRF should have it's own ISP correct?

Thanks,

Erwin
