High, we have a few stack that shares the same ip but when you log into them with cli, it will have a name of which one you are logged into and it's active or standby status.

How would I configure this for a 6500 switch stack that's using vss?

Thank you

VSS works the same way as a stack, 2 Physical devices, but Logical only 1 only once you join them together, you see same output as below :

CiscozineVSS#show switch virtual
Switch mode : Virtual Switch
Virtual switch domain number : 100
Local switch number : 1
Local switch operational role: Virtual Switch Active
Peer switch number : 2
Peer switch operational role : Virtual Switch Standby
CiscozineVSS#

how that can be built example :

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Hello,

not sure if I understand your question correctly, but I don't think you can change the name (similar to what you see in a stack).

That said, what do you want to do...individually name each VSS member switch ?
