Can't create config template for ASA

LMS 4.2.1 W2K8 R2

I tried creating a configuration template for an ASA using raw XML.  When I do this I can't select any ASA devices to deploy it to.  Figuring I had the

</hardware-platform> wrong, I tried to create a basic template using the CLI template creation function, then export this to a file to see what LMS populated that parameter with.  However, when I try and save it I get the message "The Device Type you have selected is not supported for template creation".

Can I not deploy templates on ASAs?  Where is it documented what the valid values are for fields such as <hardware-platform>, <pin>, <features>, etc?

No resolution.  I am using text files outside of LMS.
