Catalyst 3560-CX Power Device detected : Cisco PD issue

Hi,

I have 140pcs CISCO CATALYST 3560CX-12PC-S and about 10% of these have the following issue in the console.

%ILPOWER-7-DETECT: Interface Gi0/2: Power Device detected: Cisco PD

 %ILPOWER-5-POWER_GRANTED: Interface Gi0/2: Power Granted

 %ILPOWER-5-IEEE_DISCONNECTED: Interface Gi0/2: PD removed

These 3 messages keeps repeating and clogs up the console. The strange thing is that a RJ45 cable is only attached to the Catalyst and no POE unit. See attached picture1 below.

Picture.1Picture.1

As you can see in the attached picture it is not always the same port and can be on multiple ports.

We have tested many different cables including brand new Cat6a cables.

TDR is no point in testing as this triggers with a RJ45 cable attached and "Power inline Never" is not a solution.

Is there any way to disable the Cisco PD and keep the IEEE PD or other suggestions?

Thanks!

Best regards,

Robert

Thanks!
We are running quite new SW and this only happening on 10% of the units.
>From the bug section you sent the below command might be a solution to disable the logging on a specific port. Drawback is that we will have different configurations on the 10%.
Disable inline-power log events

Switch(config)# interface range Gigabit/0/1 - <#of ports>, Gigabit/0/1 - <#of ports>,
Switch(config)#no logging event power-inline-status

What firmware are the switches running on?

WS-C3560CX-12PC-S 15.2(7)E1
c3560cx-universalk9-mz.152-7.E1

Try a newer firmware and see if this improve things.

Hello Robert,

I have about 20 of  3560CX-12PD-S, also running 15.2(7)E1 and never saw this. May be a "lemon lot"?

Kind regards,

Andreas

Hi Andreas,
You have tested too few. In our last lot it was 10% on 140units.
BR,
Robert

I have >100 of the 3560CX and I too have never seen an issue like this before.
