Cisco LMS 4.2 port status reports

Hello everyone,

I'm working with Cisco LMS 4.2 and I've done a lot of reading and testing for the reports and I wonder if what I specifically want to do is possible.

I want to create a daily or weekly report of the interface status of each switch/router we're managing. To be more specific, I need to create a report of the duplex mode and the actual speed of the link.

I know this can be done fairly easily by going in the "Reports --> Switch Port --> Ports --> Port Attributes", by selecting the required devices, along with a schedule. It gives a lot of info, including the one I need.

However, the reason for doing a custom report is that I need to periodically check if the speed or the duplex mode changed and while I can check it by looking at the Port Attributes Report, it would take quite a long time to do as we have over 800 switches and routers. I'm wondering if there is already a tool that exists within LMS 4.2 that would just give me a report of the changes in the past 24 hours (for example) for the duplex mode and the speed alone.

I spent a lot of time reading the Cisco documentation and will continue to do so, but I was wondering if someone might give me a lead or a clue as to what I'd need to do.

Thanks!

Louis

Hi Louis,

what you are already trying is the best way possible to get that information ( custom report)

and I understand your concern of running it and comparing it every day for the change but that how it is  :(

Hi Afroz,

Thanks for your reply, I realized that it wasn't possible and that what I was describing was indeed the "best" way to do it. I ended up making a Perl script to sort through the report, make a new one with only the slow interfaces and keeping a custom log that shows the history and the last time an interface was slow.

Cheers!

Louis

Hi Louis

You can go to this address Reports> Report Designer> Inventory and you can create any custom reports about any things

Hi Mahdi,

Thanks for your reply, I already tried that option and I was able to generate a report with all the interfaces that were at a 10 mdps, but I couldn't find the option to check the duplex mode of the interface.

Hi Louis

You can create a schedule for Compliance Check job, in this solution first step you have to create a template for your configuration and then you should create Compliance job for your template and if your configuration has changed, you'll announcement about that with an email. if you want to oversee this solution inform me to help you.

Mahdi

Hi Mahdi,

Sorry for the late reply. I already knew it was possible to schedule the Compliance Check jobs and I intend to use it in the near future, but I really appreciate you taking the time to mention it and to offer help, I will definately seek it if I'm having trouble with it!

Regards.
