Cisco log files for AP 9130 and Wi-Fi Controller 9840

Hello Cisco Community,

Have any of you worked with log files of Cisco equipment:

  • AP 9130
  • WiFi Controller 9840
  •

I am interested in how to add information to the log files of these equipments?

Can I do this using Cisco Prime or in Cisco DNQ Center or is there another solution?

Thanks in advance for the information.

Best regards,

Inna

I asked for recommendations in the guide. At the moment, we have level 6 settings - informational, but we need to go to level 7 - debugging. But, we do not need all the information that can be contained at level 7.

Since a large amount of transmitted information can worsen the operation of the equipment or stop it. And also, we will use this information for analysis, and a large amount of information in log files worsens the operation of the analysis tool.

Question: if we go to level 7, can we select certain lines of information sent from the access point to the log file, and not everything that level 7 can give?

If yes, can you tell me how to do this? If not, what else can be done in this case?

Also a question: is there a comparative characteristic of these levels? That is, what information will we have at level 6 and level 7. To understand whether we really need level 7.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

I dont believe you can tweak how log you are going to sent from WLC. The idea of break down in level was made to facilitate the filter.

About specifcs on what kind of messages, there will be documentation similar to this one. But it will required a bit of study. You will find more detais on Cisco documentation if you dig for.
