Cisco Prime 3.0 and WS-C3650-24PD switches

Just checking from forum users before opening TAC case.

Has other PI 3.0 users noticed that WS-C3650-24PD switches are reported as "Cisco Catalyst 3850 24P 10/100/1000 PoE+ Ports Layer 2/Layer 3 Ethernet Stackable Switch"???

I have PI3.02 patch and devices packs 1-3 installed. Tried fix this situation by deleting these switches from inventory and added devices again to PI, but no help.

Device details is showing device UDI information correctly, but PI translates them to 3850.

Attached file is screen print from PI device details.

3650 architecture was based on the 3850 so it must be picking it up internally

I doubt there's anything you can change that will effect that as its been automatically picked up by Prime through sync/discovery

I have 3.0.2 installed as well but only 38s though have a couple of new 3650s will be adding next week wonder if I will hit same issue there 48TS-L version anyway be interested to know if you do TAC its prob a bug as usual with Prime :)

Mark,

I'll open TAC case today and let you know about results. Good luck with 3650s - hopefully you won't hit the same prob.

;) Mikko

Yes if you don't mind let us know thanks il probably be looking at same issue on coming Monday

Hi Mark,

It appears to be related to different HW revisions of 3650-24P switch and how they are defined in PI3.0 device packs.

I did more survey in our network and I found that I have three 3650-24PD switches with older motherboard:

Wanna-be 3850 (in real life 3650-24P):

 **SNMPv2-MIB::sysObjectID.0 = OID: SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.1.1642

 Base Ethernet MAC Address : 70:e4:22:82:bb:00

**Motherboard Assembly Number : 73-15894-05

Motherboard Serial Number : FDO194113DM

**Model Revision Number : K0

**Motherboard Revision Number : B0

Model Number : WS-C3650-24PD

System Serial Number : FDO1941E0NM

And rest of 3650-24PD switches are:

**SNMPv2-MIB::sysObjectID.0 = OID: SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.1.1829

Base Ethernet MAC Address : 58:97:bd:6f:76:00

**Motherboard Assembly Number : 73-15122-05

Motherboard Serial Number : FDO19281932

**Model Revision Number : J0

**Motherboard Revision Number : A0

Model Number : WS-C3650-24PD

System Serial Number : FDO1928E253

Anyway TAC is reproducing issue and hopefully some results in near future :)

Ah very good Mikko appreciate that I must check mine , yes if they reproduce it they will patch it eventually :)

Final update on this:

Problem is not in PI3.0, but instead on 3650 switches. In versions <3.7.3E systemObjectID gives 24 port 3850 id instead of 3650 24P (only on WS-C3650-24PD models).

Starting from 3.7.3E this has been fixed (via CSCuw69566) so that system MIB gives sysObjectID always in all variations of 3650 id 2066 (=36xx stack-able ethernet switch). Exact model and other information is available in entity MIB.

This leads to situation that PI gives partial information as it uses mainly system MIB instead of entity MIB.
