Console Cables/Adapters

Hi, I'm just getting started with Cisco equipment. I need a rollover cable. As I'm sure everyone is all too familiar with, all modern laptops do not have serial connections. The majority of rollover cables I see have serial connections. Granted there are DB-9 to USB conversions. However, while shopping around I came across some cables and adapters that caught my attention and I wanted to know if someone with more expertise could let me know the viability and or the practicality of these cables.

EDIT: For some reason the links I posted to give an example of some of the adapters and cables weren’t shown. I have now listed them below.

Just go with the standard USB-to-serial converter.

I have used the following one for years and it's still holding up quite well:

Several of my colleagues use it too.

If you want to get fancy, then go all in for an Airconsole wireless remote console adapter. You pay more but they are really good product. You can plug it in the noisy data center and then adjourn to a quieter more comfortable nearby location to do your work.
