CW Server Processes at 100%

I'm running CW2K on a Win2000 server w/service pack 4. Lately, the server has been running sluggish and locking up. When I do the alt-ctl-del and look in Task Manager - Processes, I can see that java.exe is at or near 100% CPU Usage. I checked this forum as far back as I can and there is a post from about a year ago. No definitive solution was found. Does anyone have any information on this happening?

I've not bothered to research why this happens, but I've found stopping/starting the CW2K processes brings things back to normal.

From your W2K CLI:

net stop crmdmgtd

net start crmdmgtd

Thanks for the advice. CW2K is riddled with bugs and this is our 3rd and probably last version we will purchase. Now we'll begin the process of evaluating other vendors.

Hi,

Have you tried checking in Control Panel whether you have multiple versions of Java installed?

I had that problem, and when I removed other versions of Java (except the one I want), and making sure that my Java Plug-in was fine, it fixed it.

Regards

Helena

CW performance has gotten steradily bettewr with the various updates to the base product. Make sure you have installed update one and are up to the lastest incremental device update (IDU) level on all your CW components. We used to have have CW performace problems similar to yours. The more recent patches pretty much fixed that problem.

It's alsa good server hygiene (in the Windows environment) to cycle your machine occasionally to free memory and clear caches. I've found that bi-weekly works for me - YMMV.
