detect high port error

Hi,

Is there any way of detecting high port errors (e.g. fcs errors) automatically, such as using cisco LMS, etc? instead of logging in to the switch and entering the command manually. As different IOS/CatOS and different model has different commands.

Thanks.

Christina

You could start with threshold monitoring of individual MIB variables onboard the switch/router using the "rmon alarm" and "rmon event" configuration commands. You can set rising and falling thresholds to send syslog messages and/or snmp traps. And no snmp polling bandwidth overhead on skinny WAN links. But you need a seperate "rmon alarm" config line monitoring each individual MIB variable.
