Hi,
I have this switch CAT 3550 Cisco IOS which was added manually to the resource Manger, the Campus manager sees the device and I can see it in the drawing view but its icon and the connection it has to the routers (public Address infront of the FW) and its link to my other CAT 4006 switch are Red and the device status is unreachable.
I have setup a VLAN 2 on this switch and has given it an IP address od 10.1.1.4 (to the interface) for management , i.e. telnet to the device and I can Telnet to it no problem. A port Fa0/1 has been made as the switch access port and associated to that VLAN 2 or the interface.
Can some please help me resolving this issue. what have I missed in configuring this device?
Two routers with public IP address connects to this switch and my Firewalls outside interfaces.
Regards,
Masood

Unreachable means Campus Manager cannot communicate properly via SNMP with the device

Yes that was the problem. Last night, I realized it and as soon as i enterd the snmp string into the ANI server SNMP table, it came up and I saw the device and all the connected ports and the VTP informatiuon.
But what a Green icon with ? mark means? its anotherswitch, 2948 LX-G workgroup fixed config device.
Thanx,
Masood

Green icon with ? means the device is reachable but is not supported in the version of Campus Manager / IDU
that you are running.

So in that case the only solution is to upgrade the CiscoWorks, correct?
I am currently running LMS s.2, Campus manager 3.5 but I have ordered the upgrade package. is there any specific steps that need to be taken to upgrade, imean can I upgrade to the latest directly from what we are currently running?
Thanks,
Masood

Not necessarily. There are IDU's available for download
at the following location:
http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/cw2000-campus
Make sure you are on IDU 11.0 for Campus Manager 3.3

Hi,
when installing IDU 11.0 I got the following message:
"Cannot proceede with installation
Before installing IDU 11.0, you must install IDU 5.0, then Ciscoworks LMS 2.2/LMS 1.3 update"
I coudn't even install IDU 5.0, same message.
Thx,
Masood

What version of Campus Manager are you running?
What IDU do you have installed?
If unsure, check CSCOpx\setup\cm.info

Please let me know how should I proceede with the upgrades, Cisco site doesn't really tell much about the upgrade path!
This package was purchased three years ago and was sitting on the shelf and I have recently install it and put it to work. This network was out-sourced before I take over.
Question: what does a Solid bold tick line means in the diagram in Campus manager Edge view or the VTp view, its a line between the link between one switch to another??
Thanks much for your help.

Masood

Hi,
I did the above upgrades and all went very well last month. Now I have installed two CAT 3560 Cisco switches and have added them to Ciscoworks manually but the Campus Manager shows unreachable, Red with a ? mark.
Do I need to upgrade again?
Thx,
Masood

Red question mark means that snmp communication failed
between Campus Manager and the device.
Make sure you have snmp configured on the device,
that there are no firewalls / access-lists blocking
snmp, etc.
