Disable ExceededMaximumUptime Notifications on LMS 4.0

Hi Joseph,

I'm running LMS 4.0 on Windows Server 2008.I want to disable the ExceededMaximumUptime notifications  in the Fault Monitor.

I tried to disable them as described in documentation:

Monitor > Fault Settings > Setup > Threshold Settings,  and select DFM > System Defined Groups > Interface Groups >  Backup (and Dial-on-demand).  Click the Edit button, then check the box  to disable all thresholds for this group.  Save your changes, then go to  Monitor > Fault Settings > Setup > Apply changes.  Apply your  changes, then those events should be disabled.

but i still receive such notifications. Maybe I'm missing  something, could you please assist? I've attached an example screenshot.

Following is the description :

ExceededMaximumUptime

Description: A backup or dial-on-demand port or interface has been in the Up state for a long time.

Trigger: Exceeded Maximum uptime threshold.

Severity: Critical.

Device Type: All (except Network Management).

Event Code: 1002.

Component Codes:

Port: 1028.

Interface: 1027.

On any other Component: 1026.

You can unmanage the interface you have an issue with, or you can set the alarm threshold from value to 0 to stop receiving alerts.

The maximum length of time, in seconds, that the interface may be up before the ExceededMaximumUptime event is generated. If the value of this parameter is 0, the ExceededMaximumUptime event is disabled.

You can set threshold as following to 0 or increase it:

Minimum and Maximum Threshold Parameter Values and Related Events

Threshold Category

Applicable Threshold Parameters (with unit of measure)

Values

Events Generated after Value Passes Threshold

Min

Max

Default

Backup Interface Support

Maximum uptime (seconds)

0

86400

0

ExceededMaximumUptime

Dial-on-Demand

Maximum uptime (seconds)

0

86400

7200

ExceededMaximumUptime

For changing check Editing Thresholds.

Anyone on this issue?

I really don't know why i still receive such alarms

The interfaces that you get these error on are not in the group  Interface Groups >  Backup (and Dial-on-demand)

That is why you still get the errors.

Either your group to low in the priority list or there is not match between the group and the interfaces.

I tried a different approach. I think your interaces are bearer channels on a PRI?

I was getting other errors (operational down) and found I did not want these interfaces to be managed at all. So I used this below to make the interfaces unmanaged at discovery of the device

Under CSCOpx\objects\smarts\config\discovery\ you find this file:

tpmgr-param.conf

I added these lines

IFDescrPattern-.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.875 ~*Bearer*

IFDescrPattern-.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.416 ~*Bearer*

IFDescrPattern-.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.577 ~*Bearer*

I hope you can see the Systemobjectid of the 3 devices I had these PRI's on. The second part is to match on Bearer Channel in  the interface description.

After editing this file you need to restart DFM or entire LMS and rediscover the devices involved.

Cheers,

Michel
