Currently, I have 2 devices running on Windows Server 2003 with same name and are connected to the same Cisco Switch. We call them device A and B, for now.
It gives out warning; duplicate name on network.
How do I resolve this other than changing the computer name?
I have multiple pc connected to device A and B through their own personal Cisco switch via additional ethernet port,so the name needs to stay, I can't change it (multiple processes running on the other nodes)
Can I give out different name for the particular ethernet port? Or rename from the switch? Requesting the masters from internet to clear my doubts. Kohl's Feedback Survey

- Basically this is not a cisco/networking problem , and it can't be resolved from that perspective, it needs to be resolved at the Windows-level , here are some example info's : https://www.lifewire.com/duplicate-name-exists-on-the-network-818226 , https://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/duplicate-name-exists-on-the-network-windows-error/#:~:text=You%20can%20rename%20a%20computer,the%20problem%20should%20be%20gone.

Hello,
I remember this from a (very) long time ago. I think you need to change the registry on the clients:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters
Value name: DisableStrictNameChecking
Data type: REG_DWORD
Radix: Decimal
Value: 1
