Email alert question for LMS2.6

I have a couple vital switches in my network that never change (all the ports in use are constantly on unless there's an issue).

Is it possible to set up an email alert to notify me if one of these ports shut down?

I have alerts in place to notify me if the switch itself goes down, but I can't figure out how to do this for regular ports.

You can use DFM to do this on a per port basis.

To set up email notification you would go to DFM - Administration -

Fault Notification - Mail Notifier

You would enable the adapter and fill in all fields. The mail server

should be a valid smtp server name, exchange may not work.

Unfortunately it seems it is all based on DFM versions 1.1 or 1.2

I do not have that particular console, and this version of DFM doesn't even have an admin tab.

I think I understand where you're coming from, that I may need to modify a file. I just don't know where that file is on this particular version or how to access it.

Also as a note, this is running on windows 2003 SP2.

How would I go about setting this up with DFM 2.0.8?

Sorry...I pasted the wrong info...here's the info for 2.x:

DFM -- This will monitor your devices ports and generate alerts and alarms for

thresholds.

-- To configure this go to DFM >Configuration->Polling and Thresholds

-- from each menu on the left you can select devices to monitor and set specific polling

amounts or threshold values

-- after this is done you can now setup DFM to notify you with this information by going

to DFM->Notification Services->Email Notification

-- This will email you alerts or events on interface/port errors
