Gateway Question

Flebin joy

the switch support only 100 Mbps
To run services like YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime on the cardio machines, we needed more than 100 Mbps.
We had about 150 Life Fitness cardio machines.
I configured a router from the ISP to the switch, and i bypass the firewall. I next configure a static IP address and choose the configured router as a gateway on each treadmill.
Then I checked on the faceplate on the treadmill side and now i am getting 800 Mbps. Then I checked the treadmill, but it's not getting the gateway because the gateway field in the network information is empty, and the bandwidth available is just 30 Mbps.Even with static set, the gateway field is black.
What's the reason?

The Switch gateway is :172.20.25.254 (this was the previous gateway for the treadmills , its below 100 mbps)
The router Ip address is : 172.20.25.1 (i set this as gateway for all the devices to get router speed router is connected to the switch , have a bandwidth of 800 Mbps)

you need to investigate the treadmill/faceplate configuration!

My suggestion is there may be an internal LAN  just between faceplate and treadmill,
the treadmill communicates only with the faceplate, not directly with the router, therefore no gateway need to be configured
if this assumption is wrong then you need to correct your network configuration
NB! if the gateway is empty (or faulty configured)
this could cause a delay when sending each packet (and explain the low bandwith)

1) if all network is configured manually,
then you need to set the new gateway manually in all your devices (faceplate AND treadmill )
2) if you use a DHCP server, then modify the new gateway in the DHCP scope
you may need to restart the devices to request new DHCP settings (check that they are set for DHCP)

Hello,

can you post a screenshot of the faceplate showing the gateway field ?
