I've got 1710 router running c1710-k9o3sy-mz.123-11.T3.bin image. I'd like to install SDM 2.0a including IPS with custom signatures. The problem is that there is not enough free space on the built-in flash memory. Unfortunately, this routers flash is not upgradable. So could you tell me, which of the following solutions are possible to implement, especially for the long run?
1. Use "ip http path" command to run SDM from the remote http/ftp/tftp server.
2. Free space on the flash by using "boot system url" command to load IOS image from the remote location.
3. Edit SDM files so that this application would work if placed on remote http/ftp/tftp server.
4. Delete some not essential files from SDM package to reduce its size.
5. Use something like service compress-config to compress flash memory contents or IOS image.
6. Upgrade ROM and move main IOS image there.
If there are any other ideas - advise, please. Purchasing a new router is not an option, of course :-)
Thanks a lot,
Mike.

Hi,
As of now you can use option 2. Sometime soon you will get the next version of SDM that can be installed on PC.
