Hi,
I use HP OV Network Node Manager.
some switches are placed like type Connector and some switches (HP switches with Cisco IOS for Win blades) are placed like Node.
How mechanizm determine type of network device?
Is some variables in MIB of switche like isBridge?
Thanks
Peter

Usually if its Cisco IOS we look at the object sysObjectID to determine what type of device it is.

Peter,
NNM decides on types of devices by doing the following:
1. If it answers the bridge mib - its a bridge/switch
2. If it says ipForwarding=forwarding and multiple IP interfaces - its a router
3. If the device OID is listed in oid_to_type - according to the type defined there.

Yigal
