LMS 3.0 alternative DNS server for name resolution

Hi,

Does anyone know if its possible to have LMS 3.0 use an alternative DNS server for name resolution other than the OS specified DNS servers?

I have an issue where LMS is running on a Win2k3 machine, but the DNS servers specified in Windows do not contain reverse lookup information for the IP addresses of the Cisco gear, thus everything is only listed by IP address.

All the switch DNS info is stored in a seperate private DNS server, so if there is a way to query this it would resolve my issue.

Thanks,

Mark

Thanks,

Mark

LMS will use the OS-configured DNS servers or the OS's local hosts file. You cannot tell LMS to use a different server unless you configure it in the OS.

What I do in my lab is I have a private DNS server that is authoritative for my lab. I configure all of my LMS servers to use it. The DNS server is then configured to forward all unknown queries to the main corporate DNS servers. This way, all my private equipment queries work as do my regular, Cisco queries.
