I have just rebuilt our lms 4 server onto a newly built serve 2k8r2, from our old 2003 box.

The software is installed, and setup, however I cannot get it to add any devices to the inventory. Every device it trys to talk to is classed as unreachable.

I can telnet into each switches from the server, however the LMS software for some reason cant speak.

Help and guidnace much appreciated.

Regards

Try turning off the firewall (or making rules for)

Cheers,

Michel

Firewall is already off.

On the server in CSCOpx\objects\jt\bin\ you find a snmpwalk.

It can be used to see if your server can talk SNMP to the device.

Did the IP of the server change? Did you validate that the community in LMS is what you think it is?

Cheers,

Michel

Totally new server with a fully fresh build.

SNMP community has been checked on the device itself

snmp-server community TSTECHW RW

snmp-server community TSTECHR RO

snmp-server community TSTECHRW RW

SNMPWALK gives this:

Cannot find module (IF-MIB): At line 0 in (none)
Cannot find module (TCP-MIB): At line 0 in (none)
Cannot find module (UDP-MIB): At line 0 in (none)
Cannot find module (HOST-RESOURCES-MIB): At line 0 in (none)

SNMP on your device probably has not changed. But you should know what LMS uses. Export the devices and cedentials to csv using the Export button  in device managment and validate.

I usually run snwpwalk like this:

snmpwalk.exe -On -c public -v 2c %1 1.3.6.1.2.1.1  2>nul

Cheers,

Michel

Michael,

Thanks for your help, but I dont have any devices in this new install of LMS4 to export, it wont add any of my devices at all.

Using Getif 2.6.1 I can confirm that my SNMP communtiy strings are correct, but LMS wont seem to talk to the devices.

Well, you can always add a device manually by clicking the add button.

But if the snmpwalk or getif from the server would work, then the LMS application can talk to the device as well.

I guess the community string in the discovery is not correct.

Cheers,

Michel
