Monitoring HSRP

Hi,

We have HSRP configured on a few routers, but the problem is we have no way of knowing if and when the primary link goes down and the router switches over to the HSRP link?

Is there some cisco software for monitoring this type of connection?

You can configure IOS to send SNMP traps/informs to your SNMP trap receiver (such as HP OpenView NNM or the DFM piece of CiscoWorks LMS):

snmp-server enable traps hsrp

snmp-server host ip-addr-of-your-snmp-receiver some-string-no-nms-ever-checks
