I have two 6500 cores working in hsrp , i was wondering if i can move all the modules except the supervisor in case one of the cores failed to the second core. the modules location and model are exactly replicated in both cores.

Hello,
what exactly are you after ? HSRP is supposed to take care of hardware failure, why would you want to physically move all the modules ?

because the mentioned modules with sfp and ethernet have connected systems on core 1 that aren't connected on core 2 and i can't move all the cables as there is no free ports.

Hello,
sorry for the misunderstanding, or me not fully getting what you are after. If Core 1 fails, what exactly do you consider a failure ? One module not working ? The entire switch failing ? If Core 1 fails, what other options do you have other than moving everything over to Core 2 ?

Im saying in case core 1 goes down for some reason or the supervisor fails. I just wanna know if i move the modules from core 1 to core 2 to the empty slot will they work right away and get scene on core 2

- No they will not work right away because they need to be configured on core 2. 'At least' (....) these are not common redundancy practices if at all feasible. Best is to have leaf switches with dual uplink to core and have 'user connecions' on the leaf switches.

so modules on core 1 will work on core 2 regardless of the slot number? or is there certain slots reserved for certain modules?

>...or is there certain slots reserved for certain modules?
No , there isn't but the interface will be on a default configuration and need to be configured again for production , let alone other possible related switch configuration. It's not a good business practice to consider these steps in a redundancy plan.

can i insert sfp and ethernet modules while in production? will it affect the core operation?

please anyone can answer regarding inserting modules while in production

I am fully know the supervisor function in 6000 series but
supervisor is response for many advance L3 function which may need it when shift from one core to other.
