PI 3.0 Licences

Hi,

Since I have more than 15000 devices in PI 3.0.3 ,As per Cisco recommendation am trying to build three instances because its utilizing more than 250k of interfaces

•        1^st Instance on HA
•            2^nd instance on HA
•          3^rd Instance also on HA

Means, I will build ONE INSTANCE on one server & other two instances on second server.

I have query regarding licenses:

•        For each Instance shall I buy licenses?
•          Previous license can work which was there only for one instance?
•        Please recommend me more about licences.
•        As lifecycle & assurance license are merged in PI 3.0 what can it be beneficial for me?

Hi Gaurish,

You may have an incorrect idea about the HA behavior. HA for Prime Infrastructure is meant for server redundancy, not load sharing.

There will be only 1 server active at a time, this means that you are unable to share devices between the 3 servers.

In HA setup, all servers manage the same devices.

The same license files can be applied to individual servers. If you decide to use HA, only the Primary server needs to have the licenses installed; the Secondary servers, will inherit them.
