PI2.0: Incorrect Device Uptime

Almost none of our 350 switches shows up in Prime 2.0 with correct "Device Uptime". Just random days, hours and minutes. Applies to both the Device Uptime Dashlet and the Device Details in Workcenter.

Anyone else who knows why or has a solution?

Hi,

sysUpTime is the time (in hundredths of a second) since the  network
management portion of the system was last re-initialized.

This is a 32-bit counter, that can have a maximum value of: 2^32 = 4,294,967,296 4294967296 / 100 / 60 / 60 / 24 = 497 Days This means that the counter will always reset to zero after 497 day, and start counting from zero again. That is why you might have the difference in uptime.

Hope this will help

Thanks-

It sounds like you're explaining a bug.  We've noticed this as well in our PI 2.0.  If I want to know how long a switch is up I can't look in Prime, I need to log into the switch and do a show ver to see the actual time the switch has been up.
