Port becomes inactive after command remote-rspan

Hello every body I am studying for CCNP and  have a problem with configuring RSPAN. I have 2 3550 switches that I wanna use one to connect the source to it and another one for destination. To connect these 2 switches I am using a home Linksys router. This is how I am doing: I am using 2 ports on each switch, connecting one of the ports to a laptop other one to the router. I created one VLAN 10 named it RSPAN and made 2 ports access ports and assign them to this VLAN. Then to create the connection between pc and switch and router I created an interface VLAN 10 and configure an ip address in the same subnet as the laptop and the router. until this stage everything looks ok pc can ping switch and router. when I start the RSPAN configuration for VLAN : Switch(config-vlan)#remote-span ports become amber and in show interface .... it is inactive but in show ip interface both link and protocol is up...this is my problem to this moment but if it works I will connect the destination laptop to the other switch which I thought I have to configure the same( for switch and router connectivity ) and a little different as destination unit. I am not sure what is wrong with my laptop, switch and router connectivity that the light goes amber . I would appreciate if anyone can help me with this.

If I understand correctly, you have 2 3550s connected via a linksys router. On switch #1 you have a PC in VLAN 10 and the connection from the switch to the Linksys is in VLAN 10. On switch #2, you have a laptop in VLAN 10 and the connection from the switch to the Linksys is also in VLAN 10. You want to RSPAN the traffic from the PC to the laptop. Once you configure RSPAN for VLAN 10 you have the connectivity issues.

For starters, I don't know if the Linksys is VLAN capable, and could skew the results. So I'd suggest connecting the switches directly with a trunk.

Secondly, it sounds as if you are using only one VLAN. With the PC in VLAN 10, you need to put the RSPAN destination remote VLAN in something other than 10.

If I've misinterpreted anything and you could supply configs and possibly a diagram it may make it easier to resolve the issue.
