Hello there
Pretty stupid question probably, I'm quite new to this, but I have a packet tracer file that I'm setting up a WAN in, and I have DHCP set up on 3 different LANS, but am unsure of how to IP the router on the edge of each network. Should i just add it to my DHCP addressing scheme, or can I give it a static IP somehow?
Packet tracer file attached
passwords for all devices are:
Console: letmein
Priv: c1$c0
Many thanks

yes you can give the router a static address
if this routers address is the default gateway for a subnet, then is even necessary to give it a static address
else you cannot configure this address in the DHCP options returned with the DHCP lease
when configuring a DHCP scope you have the option to exclude a range of addresses which you than can use for fixed assignments

Hello,

I am not sure what you mean by that in the context of your topology (there are three different ones in your file). You don't have a router, but several layer 3 switches ?
Either way, the default gateway set in the scopes on the DHCP server need to be the IP addresses of the SVIs (Vlan interfaces) for the respective Vlans. Just set the start addresses to an address that excludes the IP address of the Vlan interface. Packet Tracer has a quirk: if you don't exclude the IP address of the Vlan interface from the scope, it will be assigned to a client.
