Received syslog messages slow down LMS2.5 server booting

We have a problem with syslogging to LMS2.5 on solaris9 platform. Our approximately 2000 Cisco devices send syslog messages to our Cisco Works LMS2.5 server. It´s a Sun Fire V890. In the default installation syslog messages are also send to console. If we reboot our server the server gets very slow after the start of syslogging. The normal booting process is extremly slowed down because of the syslog messages which runs about the screen. In our old installation, a SUN E450 with LMS2.2, the server could handle the syslog messages and boots fine. The syslog.conf is identically with the old fine working machine. Normally I asume that the new hardware should be much more performant than the old one. We have installed all actual service packs and all recommended patches. Does anyone have an idea ?

the normal system recommendation for syslog messages is :

1000 Syslog per second incoming, 200 syslog per sec of DB insertion in bulk insertion mode.

just check out if there is any PIX device or any other device sending message in high burst..

See the following points for troubleshooting the RME installation :

To improve system performance for RME:

Reduce the number of syslog messages saved to the CiscoWorks database.

Increase the interval used by Configuration Management to collect information about managed devices.

While using CMF Syslog Service, you can turn off DNS lookup to improve performance of Syslog Collector.

To turn off, set the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > System > CurrentControlSet > Services > crmlog > Parameters > CrmDnsResolution to 0.
