Hello there!

I am studying for my CCENT exam and the practice question below is giving me some trouble.  Can you tell me why the Answer to the following question is such?

Question:

The following command was copied and pasted into configuration mode when a user was telnetted into a Cisco switch:

banner login this is the login banner

Which of the following is true about what occurs the next time a user logs in from the console?

Answer: The banner text "his is" is displayed.

Thank you in advanced!

The delimiting character is "t" for the actual banner login message "this is the login banner", that's why the answer to the question is "his is". If you want to display the whole banner login message above, use other delimiting character like $ or ! which is not part of the actual message.
