some PoE switches in a stack do not provide power.

Hello,

I have stack of 6x WS-C2960X-48FPD-L, only the 1 to 4 switches provides PoE and not the 5th and 6th.

Do you know why would that be,

There is nothing in the configuration to restrict PoE for lower switches in the stack,

Please advise.

I will post the show info in a bit.

Edouard.

Show switch

'show power inline' and 'show ver'

They are all PoE switches. The 'show' outputs are now posted.

Do you know why a phone in switch #6 does not get power ?

Thanks,

Edouard.

What happens if you connect a Cisco phone to switch 5 &/or 6?

Post the complete output to the command "sh post".

When a Cisco IP phone is connected to the switch 5 or 6, it does not power on. (doesn't receive power). If I connect a PC it has connectivity.

I ruled out the cabling as I went to the wired closet, directly connect IP phone to SW6, doesn't get energy (doesn't boot). Then connect with the same cable to SW3, then IP phone started to boot up/.

All the 6 switches in the stack are PoE.

Below is the 'show post'.

Do you have any idea

COLD reboot (pull the power cable) switch 6 and see if makes any difference.

Looks strange - i can see PoE available,

i suggest below steps :

1. try working phone from another switch port and connect to Switch 5 and 6 and see what is the Logs shows?

2. As suggested try to reload only those 2 switch members and see if that fixes the issue.

3. Try to reload the whole stack and see if that fixes the issue (in the maintenance window)

still, issue raise a TAC case - Some bug around on other versions  - may be we see some times in the later code also :
