Actual PIX 515e throughput

I'm looking to upgrade my college's internet link, and I need to know at what point I'll max out my PIX 515e-R (running 7.2(1), with 64MB RAM). I've currently got 1500 desktops connected via a 4.5Mbps link, and I run around 5% CPU.

If I move up to 50Mbps, will the 515e handle it? If not, what will?

I checked the device data sheet @ http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/vpndevc/ps2030/products_data_sheet09186a0080091b15.html. The PIX 515 will support up to 190 Mbps of cleartext throughput. That's not just for one interface. That's for the whole PIX. So what that doc is saying right there is that the entire PIX is capable of about 190 Mbps throughput across all interfaces using standardized traffic that they tested with.

Hope it helps,

I saw that too, that's why I asked about "actual" throughput, under non-lab conditions.

Anyone got any direct experience with this?
