Hy!

I have a 5506 Firwall which is about 1 year old.

Last week we had to make a restart and now when i put in the power cable i only have a red light flashing and the firewall won´t start.

Also when i try to connect via console i will get no answer?

What do you think?

Mainboard error?

Memory error?

Greetings Andy

Please check the hardware version. I'm quite sure that you have a dead unit now.

Thank you for your help.

I have Version 02

I installed the firewall in March 2016.

Do i have a chance to get this part replaced ?

I believe that the device must be on a service contract to be replaced.
Read about it here, and follow the instructions on the "order" page. :)

thank you.

We sold over 70 pieces to our customers with this issure.

We send all serial numbers to cisco becouse of this issure ...

I´m looking forward for an answer of cisco .

Can the cfg be retrieved from the dead unit?

Just found out about this thread the hard way  when the second Cisco ASA5506 with less than 2 years failed with the flashing amber status light.

After reading Field Notice 64228 I found unacceptable not being able to replace these units with a known manufacture hardware issue unless they are under contract or warranty. Warranty is usually 90 days without a SmartNET contract and the statement says "Might fail after 18 months or longer".

Cisco sold lots of bad units, now they need to fix their mistake with or without a service contract.

Note: Interestingly, I opened a TAC case a month ago about this 5506 device issue and the engineer didn't say a word about this "recall", he just said, the asa wasn't under a service contract and couldn't help me.

Man, I am a Cisco guy but this type of things upsets me big time.
