Trying to re0image an older ASA 5520 with asdm-743.bin. However at the end of the tftp process I am getting the following error message:

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Received 24810876 bytes

Bad magic number (0x26b683f3)
rommon #5>

Any ideas as to why?

Thanks for the assistance.

hi,

either the ASDM image or ASA flash could be corrupted.

try to download again the ASDM file and verify MD5 checksum.

if still getting the same error, try to reformat ASA flash.

don't forget to backup ASA license keys.

fsck flash:

format flash:

I am confused. Are you bringing up ASA with ASDM image? If that is the case, it is wrong. You need ASA image to boot ASA. Please clarify
