ASA 5520 Upgrade 8.0(3) to 8.3.1 question

Hello,

I know there is a required 2GB memory upgrade to go to 8.3.

Is it possible to do the upgrade in the following order, to minimize downtime?

1 - install 8.3.1

2 - shutdown the ASA

3 - install memory upgrade

4 - power ASA on to complete the upgrade

Or do I have to install the memory first and then do the upgrade?

Thanks

I have very simalar question.

I am planning to migrate from asa 5520(8.0(4)) to 5520(8.3.1)

we have failover

ram512

flash256

we gonna upgrate memmory

Do i need to make any changes in config of ASA to make work same rules on new software?

maybe some links? or sudgestions?*

Here is the ASA 8.3 migration guide http://conft.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa83/upgrading/migrating.html

Though the ASA should migrate smoothly...without any intervention as it comes up in 8.3.

I hope it helps.

I just did the upgrade on our main 5520 two days ago. I've upgraded two 5520's and one 5505 to 8.3.1 and the last one was the only one that had a couple of NAT issues.  They were pretty easy to figure out.  Just follow the upgrade guide and you will be fine.

check the cisco website for ram requirement for that IOS, i tried upgrading my 5520 from 804 to 8.2...something and when i rebooted the device , it showed me error for not enough RAM  ( i have 512 mb ).

Please check that out before you upgrade.

thanks
